Founded on the shoreline of Stonington, Connecticut, Orata was created to celebrate a life shaped by the ocean. What began as a passion for offshore fishing has grown into an apparel brand for anyone who feels at home on the water.

Our Roots
The story of Orata began long before the brand itself.
Our grandfather proudly served aboard the USS-243 Bream during World War II. After returning home, he built a house along the Connecticut coastline, a place that would become the backdrop for generations of family memories on the water.
That home gave us more than a place to gather. It gave us a lifelong connection to the sea. From early mornings on the dock and afternoons cruising the shoreline to unforgettable offshore fishing adventures, those experiences shaped the way we see coastal life.
The name Orata, the Italian word for gilt-head bream, reflects that connection. While our designs are inspired by offshore fishing, the brand has always represented something broader: a life lived on and around the water.
Today, Orata celebrates every journey from quiet inshore mornings and harbor sunsets to long runs beyond the horizon honoring the generations who came before us and inspiring those still to come.
